First-choice Lineup

The midfielder Set-pieces from dead balls and set-plays were dangerous. Was given room to drift down the left flank but was in an offside position upon receiving in front of goal. Awarded a deserved substitution after an hour. 6/10

The star midfielder Played in a high role out wide and contributed with defensive duties. Displayed moments of class but scuffed an attempt high. Substituted in the closing stages for a teammate, his rival, after being booked. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Had England’s clearest opportunity of the first half, his shot well saved by the Albanian keeper. As a teammate staying deep, it fell to him to stretch the play out wide although his balls from the touchline varied in quality. Replaced with 15 to go. 6

The captain The difference-maker scoring two more strikes in an England shirt. The first a trademark opportunist's goal and his next a classy headed goal after peeling away away from the opposition. Aged 32, his form is unwavering and England stand a real opportunity in future competitions when he's in the team. Eight

The attacker Had difficulty to make an impact out wide. Was presented with a decent opportunity after being played in by Bellingham yet the keeper made the save. His replacement had a greater influence in his place. Five
