England Coach Tim Southee Unsure on Ashes Availability
The bowler's most recent Test match for the Kiwis was versus the English side in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be at the upcoming Ashes contest in the host nation.
The former Kiwi pace bowler is expected to be present for the opening match due to his participation in the ILT20 competition, which begins on December 2 in the UAE.
Southee, 36, assumed a role as England's fast bowling consultant in the summer after taking 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Commenting as England's team for the opening of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was announced, Southee stated of his availability: "We're still working through that at the moment.
"We will determine what happens over the next little while."
English pace icon Broad had stated the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over the anticipated challenge during the series, which begins on November 21.
"I don't think there's at any time a poor Australian cricket team," Southee said.
"The team's attention is squarely on what we're trying to do. I think the caliber of [the English] team that's going out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an absolute cracker, that series. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I think the entire cricketing community is."
However, before England travel to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they face New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
